A Rhodhiss mother was charged Sunday evening after her child was found walking alone in ½ñÈÕ¿´ÁÏ.
Amanda Marie Minton, 29, of Rhodhiss, was charged with misdemeanor child abuse after the incident late Sunday, according to a release from the ½ñÈÕ¿´ÁÏ Department of Public Safety.Â
Officers were sent to East Fleming Drive near Hogan Street just before 8 p.m. on Sunday for a report of a small child walking alone on the street. They quickly found the child. The child was not injured but did get checked out by Burke County EMS, the release said.Â
While gathering information to try to identify other family members' names and locations, a search was started by assisting agencies.Â
About 45 minutes later at 8:43 p.m., the mother of the child called to report her child missing, the release said. It was then confirmed the child located by officers was the only child missing and a second, older child was with the mother, the release said.Â

Upon further investigation, Minton was taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor child abuse, the release said.Â
She was held under a $5,000 secured bond, the release said.Â
The Burke County Rescue Squad, Burke County EMS, Burke County Fire Marshal's office, Broughton Police Department, Burke County Department of Social Services and Caldwell County Department of Social Services all responded to the scene along with Public Safety's fire and police divisions.Â
